Experience the fun of making wooden bowls on the lathe in this weekly workshop limited to only six students. Intended for students with little or no bowl turning experience, this hands-on course will cover the basic skills needed to complete turned wooden bowls. Topics covered will include: wood preparation, lathe operation, safety issues, tool selection, sharpening, sanding techniques and final finishing. Students are encouraged to bring any turning tools they have.

Pen turning is an enjoyable way to get started using the lathe. This class will teach all the basic techniques in creating your own Slim Line Pen. You will leave with a unique writing instrument that you created yourself. The instructor will show how to align the grain, square the ends, turn the wood, apply a finish and assemble the parts.

Sharp tools cut wood. Having sharp tools and knowing how to sharpen them are essential to woodturning. Bring in your turning tools and the instructors will show you how to give them "the perfect edge" to make turning "a breeze". The group will use the Oneway Wolverine System.

Uncover the mysteries of the skew, one of the turner's most versatile tools. Students will learn the basics of using the skew chisel in this hands-on workshop. Bring in your own skew and the instructor will show you how to sharpen and then perform various cuts with it. Don't be a "scardy cat", come on in and "get to the point".

This weekend workshop will be useful to all wood turners who want to add design and interest elements to simple wood turned surfaces. Topics covered will include: texturing and carving with air-driven die grinders, the application of various chemicals and compounds that can be used for controlled the burning of surfaces and branding wood using a homemade wood burner. Students will be taught how to make their own wood burners and branding tips allowing them to create endless decorative possibilities. Students should bring with them a piece of wood suitable for turning which will be used to apply the techniques covered.

This class will expand on the techniques learned in the beginners metal spinning class. There will be demonstrations and hands on work so that students can focus on the following advanced techniques: spinning pewter, back-stick work, advanced beading, trim tool sharpening, split tool mandrels and more. Tools and materials will be available for purchase from the instructor.

This fun, two-day workshop is intended for students who already have some bowl turning experience, but want to progress beyond basic bowls and learn the proper techniques for turning natural edge (bark attached) bowls. Topics to be covered include: safety precautions, wood selection, mounting projects demonstrations, students will work at their own pace, with individual assistance and coaching.

Woodturning IS NOT just for men. Come and be introduced to the wonderful world of woodturning in this fun weekend workshop. The group (limited to just six) will cover: spindle turning, bowl turning and basic lathe use, safety and tool sharpening. Students will have an opportunity to make a number of spindles and face plate projects during the weekend. Projects may include: a weed pot, a bowl, a small plate or a platter. This is a great introduction to the fascinating craft of turning.
