Our
Mission and Vision
Today the mission of Brookfield Craft
Center is more important than ever. Our not-for-profit
organization was founded in 1954 "to stimulate
interest in handmade objects of good design, to act
as a clearinghouse for information related to handcrafts
and to act as a sales outlet for the encouragement of
practicing craftsmen." The Center seeks to carry
out this mission through a variety of innovative and
progressive educational public service programs open
to all without regard to race, gender or religious affiliation.
The Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization that strives to support creativity, fine
design, and quality craftsmanship through a wide variety
of educational and retail programs.
The Center offers one of the widest
and most varied hands on workshop programs in the nation;
providing high quality education for all ages and interest
levels. In 1982 Brookfield Craft Center received this
state's highest award for excellence in the arts: The
Connecticut Arts Award.
